Provide a safe environment
*Ensure that the gym is set up and tidied away in a safe manner
*Check equipment for damage – inform coach in charge/sports centre staff if damage is found
*Make sure there is plenty of space around equipment
*Make sure there is adequate matting in place
Plan and deliver quality coaching sessions for a group or class taking into account individual and group coaching needs.
*Activities planned should be progressive and appropriate to the needs, ages and abilities of the group/individual
*Ensure all participants are happy and being challenged
*Coach in accordance with National Body training and guidelines
*Take up opportunities to continue your development as a coach e.g. attending workshops or updating coaching qualifications
*Ensure you know the rules for competitions that your group are working towards and try to ensure that they are ready for it on time.
*Supervise and mentor assistant coaches
Comply with Banchory Gymnastics Club’s Procedures and Policies
*Comply with coaches code of conduct and child protection policy
*Update child protection or first aid protection training when necessary
During each session:-
*Be punctual so that the session can start on time
*Be appropriately attired
*Keep a register of all participants under your responsibility and ensure you have emergency contact numbers available
*Provide lesson plans and floor plans; be well prepared so as to make the most of the time, space and equipment available
*Ensure assistant coaches under your supervision are aware of their role and tasks for each session
*Coach in charge should make sure all participants have been collected before leaving
To help keep sessions running smoothly
*Ensure good communication with other coaches
*Show respect towards other coaches
*If you cannot make a session try and find cover. Make sure you inform the other coaches in the session as early as possible.
